kids can teach u about …

  • patience
  • taking turns
  • making mistakes is okay, we are all just learning anyway
  • everyday is a new day
  • how to be really really silly
  • how to laugh at yourself
  • with enough sticky tape you can fix anything
  • clothes are for wearing out, not just wearing
  • magic is in everything
  • crying is healthy
  • forgiveness is easy
  • everyone is special

Worth checking out a post about the inclusion of kids in activist circles and a lively discussion at bloggreenanarchobreeding .Bloggreen has also started a blogroll on radical parenting which is well worth a look, I also added one of the links to my own blogroll.. piratepapa is a really choice site, with lots of interesting stuff and a link to one of the most gorgeous homes I’ve ever seen woodland house Me is in love, am now moving to Wales to live with the hippies in the forest. (sorry I don’t mean hippies in a negative way, I mean beautiful fairie peoples.)
Sod the revolution! I’ll take the lifestyle anyday!

    http://motheranarchy.blogspot.com/ is cool too.

You know where you talked about your Jesus thing… well, whether you believe him to be a mythical or historical figure, he’s not a bad model for parenting, assuming your experience wasn’t at the feeling crucified end of the spectrum, of course.

There are Christian folk who are Parenting In Jesus’ Footsteps, who link to some of the same resources that MotherAnarchy does.

I’ve known Christian parents, in debating S.59 to assert, Jesus would never have smacked a child, end of story from their pov.

There is argument around that says Jesus was quite the anarchist.

    la la la :)

Yeah but Christians give me the creeps, I think it’s something to do with that heaven and hell stuff, and the God as the Father stuff as well.. ;-) There are a group of Anarchists who r called Jesus Radicals and believe that Jesus was an Anarchist, I think I’d need to believe in Jesus as a deity before even contemplating it.
‘Religion is the opiate of the people’ Keeps them happily humble and self-judging so they won’t see the shit they are surrounded by in the here and now.
I agree smacking kids is totally unnecessary, violence only leads to more violence.
Though I do think we have the right to defend ourselves against state sanctioned violence by fighting back when necessary.
Mother anarchy is a awesome site.., did u read the ‘100 things about me’ ?

I’m not a fan or religion at all, though I try to understand why it works for people; community, particularly homogenous community (that sort of othering which is fear-based, I think, and a very big part of reinforcing ‘the system’), seems a huge factor - then there’s the all the other capital ‘F’ Fear that’s a massive part of the indoctrination and very hard to grow past and/or out of.

Do the Jesus Radicals (anarchists) do gendered roles/het. pairing etc?.. I’ll google, so consider that a rhetorical question if you like. I’d only know of some lefty folk recovering/breaking away from Religions, to go the way of Jesus, alone, pure and simple. A more solitary pursuit - unreligioning - intentionally living as Jesus was believed to have done.

Violence. I’d like to say I’m a pacifist, though I know I could not go all the way to not defending myself and others I cared for or who were my allies. And those who control, often seem to be unable to interact with, to hear, understand or even just react to anything which is not all up in their faces in unmistakable ways, so… yeah, I get civil disobedience, and beyond.

I do think that home is the perfect place to practice, to institute consensual living, and I wish more adults would endeavour to live that way and that all children were raised that way. http://www.consensual-living.com

Ducking in and out of the archives, I didn’t see MotherAnarchy’s 100 things… 100 things is a lot to come up with and stay interesting.

I know saying that,(about christians) sounds prejudiced against them, i guess i kinda am, but this is more to do with my up-bringing than anything else…i’m gonna make this a post instead!
